The Wilyabrup Project
Above the waves, beneath the sky, against the rock. Moving against a staggering vertical cliff face, suspended above wild crashing ocean, two artists dance with the roaring wind and each-other in a celebration of human connection, our experience of nature and the vast wilderness that is the Wilyabrup sea cliffs. A choreographed performance of two bodies in gravity-defying motion tethered to the rockface, this vertical dance frames the artform against truly wild nature that shows the beauty, fragility and resilience of the human body and the environment. Filmed on Wadandi land in the south west of Western Australia.
Tough Crowd’ follows the desperate journey of the juggler, as he ventures out in search of an audience. Exploring public space and circus in the virtual landscape, this short film finds humour in the complexities of the current climate. Born out of an ongoing project involving creating and filming a video every day for 6 months, it prompts the viewer to contemplate the cultural zeitgeist.

VOID is our way of expressing the impossible situation that the performing arts is currently in due to the pandemic. Closed theaters and empty stages. The opportunities to work and to create have been taken away from us.
As we are no longer allowed to gather a crowd during the day, we take hold and refuge in the night. We can’t stop. We will persist.
